BURGAS Contact Centre
The idea to establish an intelligence coordination centre at the Black Sea was launched in 2001, at Varna, on the occasion of a meeting between the chiefs of the Border Polices in the states riparian at the Black Sea.
On 12.12.2002, at Giurgiu, the chiefs of the Romanian and Bulgarian Border Police signed a memorandum agreeing that this centre should be established on the Bulgarian territory, at Burgas.
Through this contact point, the interest information, regarding the cross-bordering criminality, are submitted to the countries riparian at the Black Sea (Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Russian Federation and Ukraine), information processed afterwards in order to solve some extremely complex cases.
