At the European Union level, the legislative framework on the new architecture of information systems for security and border information systems is being implemented, with an impact on the activity of the Romanian Border Police.
The Schengen Information System (SIS) is a cooperation tool for the border, immigration, police, customs and judicial authorities of the EU and Schengen associated countries, with the purpose of entering and consulting alerts on persons and objects in a common database, as well as exchanging information on security and border management through them.
Further general information on the Schengen Information System (SIS) can be found by clicking on the link below:

The Entry-Exit System (EES) is an IT system for the electronic registration of entry and exit data and refusal of entry of third-country nationals coming to the European Union for short-term stays, in order to secure, protect and manage them electronically and to increase the security of citizens.
Information on the processing of personal data in the ESS can be found by following the link: https://www.politiadefrontiera.ro/en/main/pg-protection-of-personal-data-44.html
Further general information on the EES can be found on the European Commission's website -https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees_en.
The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is a travel authorization system for visa-exempt third-country nationals to assess whether their presence on the territory of EU Member States constitutes a security risk, an illegal immigration risk or a high epidemic risk.
Travellers must apply for the authorization before travelling to the EU and be in possession of it when they present themselves at border control. The system will provide, online, an application form which the applicant will fill in with information on their identity, travel document, residence and answers to a series of general questions. To complete the application, applicants are required to pay a fee of €7.
According to the provisions of Article 18(2) of Regulation 1240/2018, applicants under 18 years of age or over 70 years of age at the time of application are exempt from paying the travel authorization fee.
It is expected that in most cases the authorization will be issued within a few minutes following an automated processing by the central ETIAS system. If the automated application processing signals a hit as a result of queries against the relevant EU databases, Europol data and Interpol databases, the applications are processed manually at the level of an EU Member State designated as responsible.
Further information on ETIAS can be obtained from the European Commission’s website - https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en.
