Between 6–8 July 2026, the Romanian Border Police hosted the working visit to Romania of the Frontex delegation, led by the Chairperson of the agency's Management Board, Alexander Fritsch. Throughout the visit, the Frontex official was accompanied by Mr. Bernd Kaiser, liaison officer on border issues at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bucharest.
On behalf of the Romanian Border Police, the activities were coordinated by the Inspector General, Police Principle Quaestor Cornel Laurian Stoica, together with representatives of the structures responsible for European cooperation and integrated border management.
The visit's programme included working meetings at the headquarters of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, as well as visits to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Romania, the Operational Coordination Centre, the ETIAS Unit headquarters, and Coast Guard structures.
Discussions focused on strengthening institutional cooperation between the Romanian Border Police and Frontex, in the context of implementing European policy on the integrated management of the European Union's external borders. Aspects concerning operational cooperation, staff training, institutional capacity development, and prospects for collaboration within the operations and projects coordinated by the agency were also examined.
The visit provided an opportunity to present the organization and functioning of the Romanian Border Police structures involved in managing the European Union's external border, as well as to highlight the institution's contribution to shared European objectives in the field of border security.
The Romanian Border Police reaffirms its commitment to actively participate in the decision-making process and in the activities carried out within the European Union agencies, contributing to strengthening European cooperation and to developing an efficient system for the integrated management of external borders.
