Waiting times at border crossings with Hungary have dropped significantly

On 20.12.2021, approximately 204,000 persons, Romanian and foreign citizens, with over 56,500 means of transport, carried out the control formalities through the border points at the level of the entire country.

On the way in, there were about 154,000 people with 41,000 means of transport, and on the way out, 50,000 people with 15,500 means of transport.

As of this night, the waiting times at the border crossing points with Hungary have decreased significantly, currently the traffic is under normal conditions for this period, the maximum waiting times being 40 minutes in BCP Nădlac II and Borş II.

The busiest borders were:

  • Border with Hungary - about 125,000 people and 40,300 means of transport
  • Air border - about 43,000 people
  • Border with Moldova - about 16,400 people and 4,500 means of transport.

Compared to the same day last year (when the border checkpoints across the country carried out control formalities, on average, about 90,000 people), there is an increase of over 120% in total traffic values.

Comparing the same periods, on the border with Hungary, the number of people who showed up at the entrance to the country (112,000 people in the last 24 hours) increased by about 250%.

The border police are working at the maximum capacity allowed by the infrastructure of the crossing points. We recommend to the traffic participants the transit of all points open to international traffic, so as to avoid the occurrence of overloads of only some of them.

We also specify that the liaison with the authorities of the neighboring states is permanently maintained, in order to establish common measures, based on bilateral protocols, so that border control can be carried out efficiently.

We remind you that, as of tonight, the obligation to complete the Digital Form for all persons entering Romania came into force. The form is completed online and does not need to be printed, as it will be read automatically by our devices within a few seconds.

We recommend that the digital form (PLF) be completed prior to presentation at the border checkpoint at the checkpoint.

Information on the situation of border points open to international traffic can be found on the online Traffic application which can be accessed at http://www.politiadefrontiera.ro/traficonline/.
