The border guards within the Border Crossing Point Sighetu Marmației detected two Dutch nationals, a man and a woman, who introduced illegally in the country, from Ukraine, more than 84 kg of heroin. Warrants for 24-hour detention were issued for the two Dutch nationals.
On 04.03.2019, at 09:30 a.m., in BCP Sighetu Marmației, Maramureș County, presented in order to enter the country, traveling with a Renault Sport GT, registered in Germany, two Dutch nationals, a woman and a man, aged 29 and respectively, 44.
Taking action based on the risk analysis, i.e. the operational information held at the level of the structures within TIBP Sighetu Marmaţiei, the border guards carried out a thorough check of the transportation mean and the baggage.
Thus, a special designed space was detected in the floor of the vehicle, in which there were concealed 167 packages containing a brownish-yellowish substance, presumed to be high risk drugs.
The entire quantity weighting 84.3 kg was seized by the border guards and taken for analysis and expertise to the laboratory, which confirmed that it reacted positively to heroin.
In this case, the investigations are carried on by DIICOT prosecutors – Territorial Office Maramureş with the support of the employees within Territorial Service of Border Police Maramureş and SCCO – Maramureş for committing crimes related to the introduction or removing from the country, as well as import or export of high risk drugs, without any right and cultivation, production, manufacture, experimentation, extraction, preparation, transformation, procurement or possession of high risk drugs for self-consumption, without any right, acts provided for by Article 3, par. 2 and Article 4 par. 2 of Law 143/2000 on combating the drugs illicit trafficking and use, in connection with Article 38 par. 2 of Penal Code.
Also, as a result of the rules of evidence managed by the case prosecutor within DIICOT - Territorial Office Maramureş, warrants for 24-hour detention were issued for the two Dutch nationals.
