Romanian Border Police Officers within Land Border Crossing Point Giurgiu detected two Romanian citizens intending to exit Romania with trucks declared as stolen in Hungary, few hours ago.
Last evening, around 23.15 hours, two Romanian citizens presented for border check at the Land Border Crossing Point Giurgiu in order to exit our country. The aforementioned people are Cristian G., 34 years old and Ioan J., 41 years old, living in Arad County, driving each one Scania truck, white colored, made in 2004 and 2006, registered in Hungary.
On the occasion of specific formalities and as a result of the thorough search of Schengen Information System, Border Police officers established that the trucks were declared as stolen by the Hungarian authorities in May 9th, 2011.
The people incriminated for theft stated that the trucks were given to them by a Hungarian citizen and a Turkish one - no personal details known - in order to drive them to Bulgaria, receiving 150 EURO per each for this service, without knowing the fact that the truck were declared as stolen.
The persons in question were drawn prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of complicity to theft and the trucks, valuing about 60.000 EURO, were asset on the premises of Giurgiu County Border Police Inspectorate.
