Stolen Audi Q7 detected at Giurgiu

Romanian Border Police Officers within Land Border Crossing Point Giurgiu detected and asset, on the occasion of specific actions, a luxury vehicle, Audi Q7 brand, valuing 120,000 lei, stolen from Italy.

On 18.05.2011, around 07.00 hours, a Turkish citizen, Y. Mehmet, 42 years old, came for border check at the Land Border Crossing Point Giurgiu in order to exit our country, driving a Audi Q7 vehicle.

On the occasion of the investigations, Border Police officers established that the vehicle was declared as stolen by the Italian authorities in 2009. The person incriminated for theft stated that the vehicle was bought from a fair in Bucharest for the amount of 26,500 Euro. The vehicle was sold to the Turkish citizen, who had no idea about the fact that the car was stolen by a Romanian citizen.

The person in question, Y. Mehmet, was drawn prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of complicity to theft and the car, valuing about 120,000 lei, was asset on the premises of Giurgiu County Border Police Inspectorate, the investigation being continued at the moment.
