During 23.09 - 07.10.2008, six officers within Romanian Border Police, specialized in detecting forgeries in documents, participate in a joint mission organized by FRONTEX Agency in many E.U. states.
The aim of this action is to prevent and counter illegal migration at E.U. air borders.
As a member of Frontex Agency, to participate in this mission, the Romanian Border Police assigned six specialized officers in the field of prevention and countering illegal migration, five of those carry out their activity in airports from Germany, Czech Republic and Austria, and the sixth officer, in Warsaw, within the mission’s Operational Coordination Center.
Thus, the Romanian border policemen shall participate together with their colleagues from E.U. Member States, at the border control in airports, their main missions are to detect the false and forged travel documents, the counterfeit of visas affixed to the passports, as well as counteracting illegal migration, in generally, to the communion area.
Such joint missions are aimed, besides the experience exchange, to identify the present problems registered at the external borders of the communion area and to improve the cooperation relations between the border authorities in the Member States.
Background information
FRONTEX Agency became operational in 2005, as the main E.U. institution regarding the external border management and assures the coordination of M.S. actions to implement the communion’s measures in this field.
FRONTEX operations are based on risk analysis in order to counter illegal migration, and this fact supposes trust, support and active participation of the Member States and FRONTEX spirit to coordinate the joint measures completes the national borders security systems.
The Romanian Border Police is appreciated as one of the most active structures at FRONTEX Agency level.
