Romanian Border Police officers within Satu Mare Border Police Territorial Service apprehended seven illegal migrants at two Romanian citizens who guided the migrants towards the border. Two of the migrants tried to illegally exit Romania in December 2011 through the same area.
On 06.01.2012, based on data and information, Border Police officers within Operational Support Department - Satu Mare Border Police Territorial Service initiated a specific action in the filed of countering illegal migration within the area of responsibility. Two vehicles registered in Salaj County were persuaded by Border Police officers up to Dorolt.
In cooperation with Border Police officers within Petea Border Police Sector, in Dorolt, where the cars stopped, Border Police officers checked both of the vehicles, finding inside them seven foreigners, hidden.
All of them were led on the premises of Petea Border Police Sector, for further investigations.
Out of the preliminary investigations resulted the fact the drivers are Zoltan V., 36 years old from Satu Mare County and Virgil P., 36 years old from Salaj County.
The seven migrants were four from Libya, two from Morocco and one Algerian, with ages from 13 to 41 years old. Some of them were apprehended before, on 26th of December 2011, by the Romanian Border Police officers in their attempt of illegally cross the green border.
The results of the investigation were that the apprehended people - seven foreigners - intended to illegally exit Romania in order to reach Schengen area. They were taken from Baia Mare from the two drivers and driven to Dorolt. From here they were supposed to walk, over the fields till reaching Hungary.
The drivers state that they were promised 100 Euros for this job (50 Euros for each).
The drivers are incriminated for trafficking illegal migrants and the ten migrants for attempt of illegal border crossing.
