Border policemen within the Mangalia Naval Group intercepted a sail with 33 of Syrian migrants and 2 Turkish facilitators aboard, at 7 sea miles abreast of Cap Aurora resort.
On 06.07.2013, around 2.00 a.m., border policemen within SCOMAR observed a suspect ship on the Black Sea at about 7 sea miles abreast of Cap Aurora resort in Constanþa county.
The information was sent to the leading staff of Mangalia Naval Group which disposed an emergency mission, with an own boat, in the indicated zone.
Around 02.48 a.m., the boat of Mangalia Naval Group intercepted the target which proved to be a sail of 20 meters length, without flag, aboard of which there were many persons who were not speaking Romanian.
The sail was escorted in the area of the port basin of Mangalia Naval Group in order to be thoroughly checked.
Upon the investigations it was ascertained that there were 20 men, 8 women and 7 children aboard, 33 of them had Syrian citizenship and 2 Turkish citizenship.
The Syrian citizens stated that they resorted to Turkish citizens who were to transport them to a Schengen area country.
Border policemen drew up the preliminary documents for the Turkish citizens for commiting the crime of entering the country by illegal border crossing and recruiting, guiding and facilitating one or more persons for illegal border crossing  and the Syrian citizens are investigated for commiting the crime of entering the country by illegal border crossing, according to Article 70, par. 1 and Article 71, par. 1 of Emergency Government Ordinance 105 / 2001 on Romanian state border.
