Thus, on the way to enter Romania, through the land border points, but also through the air and maritime ones (arrivals from non-Schengen states), the entry formalities for 110,625 people were carried out. At the same time, 33,764 means of transport entered the country.
As for Ukrainian citizens, for them our workers carry out the control formalities at the border crossing, in accordance with the national and community regulations in the field, until 01.11.2024, at the national level, entering Romania 10,479,408 Ukrainian citizens.
We also support citizens who want to travel outside the country with information on the waiting time at border points open to international traffic, information that can be found on the Trafic on-line application that can be accessed at http://www.politiadefrontiera.ro/traficonline/ .
Starting from March 31, 2024, border police officers at airports and seaports throughout the country no longer carry out control formalities for people traveling in the Schengen area, but together with colleagues from the police, immigration and gendarmerie, carry out punctual police actions to verify the identity and legal status of persons, but also to prevent and combat illegal acts.
To carry out these checks, our workers have mobile terminals connected to the relevant databases of the Romanian authorities, but also to those in the Schengen Area, performing, in the last 24 hours, more than 5,600 checks in the eDAC application.
In the situations where deviations from the legal norms were found, in the last 24 hours, in the areas of competence - the crossing points, but also at the "green border" - the border police found 162 illegal acts (120 crimes and 42 misdemeanors) where Romanian legislation was violated.
Following the detection of illegal acts by the border police, fines in the amount of 39,640 lei were imposed and goods worth more than 1,121,934 lei were seized for confiscation, which were stopped from being sold, in order to protect consumers.
Also, 37 foreign citizens, who did not meet the conditions provided by the law, were not allowed to enter the country, and 8 Romanian citizens were also not allowed to leave for various legal reasons.
The Romanian Border Police undertakes firm daily measures in all areas of competence, together with the other competent institutions, in order to detect and sanction persons who do not respect the law. We are constantly on duty to facilitate border crossing for traffic participants and to provide support to citizens in any situation.
