Over 2,800 pistols, found in B.C.P. Isaccea


Border guards and customs officers from the Isaccea Border Crossing Point found, 2,850 pistols hidden in a truck driven by a Ukrainian citizen for which the driver did not have legal transport authorizations.

On 24.05.2021, around 23.00, at the Isaccea Border Crossing Point, Tulcea County, a 41-year-old Ukrainian citizen presented himself to exit the country, driving a road ensemble with a semi-trailer, registered in the Republic of Ukraine. The man was transporting furniture and various food items from Turkey, for a Ukrainian company, according to the accompanying documents.

Based on a risk analysis, the border police officers together with the customs workers from the Tulcea Border Customs Office decided to unseal the cargo compartment of the means of transport and to carry out its thorough control.

Following the verifications 143 boxes containing 2,850 pistols, Major Berg 2.5 brand, 4 mm caliber were discovered hidden behind the declared goods, by the lid method. During the investigations, it was found that the driver does not have a transit authorization according to the relevant legislation.

In the case, the border policemen carry out investigations together with policemen from the Arms, Ammunition and Explosives Service of the Tulcea County Police Inspectorate under the coordination of the prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Tulcea Court, under the aspect of committing the offenses of qualified smuggling and non-compliance with the arms and ammunition regime.
