Organization of the third Workshop for the development of a common training curricula within the project “ROHU00634 – SAFE – Together for a Safer Area”

      

 Between 28 and 30 July 2026, the third workshop dedicated to the development of a common training curriculum was held in Szeged, Hungary, within the framework of the strategic project "ROHU00634 – SAFE – Together for a Safer Area", financed under the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme.

The general objective of the project is to increase the level of safety and security for citizens, residents, and tourists in the eligible area, addressing cross-border challenges through the improvement of institutional capacities, modernization of training facilities, and strengthening of cooperation between law enforcement institutions from Romania and Hungary.

The objective of the third workshop was to finalise and validate the training curriculum by capitalising on the contributions of experts from the partner institutions and harmonising the content of the training programme in order to strengthen cooperation in the field of Integrated Border Management (IBM).

The topics addressed included the verification of security features of documents and vehicles, the use of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) techniques, and the detection of fraudulent documents and false identities. Discussions also covered checks performed through the Schengen Information System (SIS) and key border control procedures, including visa management, the operation of the Entry/Exit System (EES), and procedures related to the return of third-country nationals staying illegally.

 The workshop was organised by the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Border Police (IGPF), acting as the Lead Partner, and hosted by the Police Education and Training Centre in Szeged (ROKK), Project Partner 5, in cooperation with the "Avram Iancu" Border Police Agents Training School Oradea (SPAPFAI Oradea), Project Partner 3, and the Bihor County Police Inspectorate (IPJ Bihor), Project Partner 2.

 The total value of the project is 4,375,000.00 €, of which 2,884,275.58 € represents 65.93% non-reimbursable funding from the Interreg fund (ERDF).
The project implementation period is 36 months, from December 23, 2024, to December 22, 2027.
