As a result of the information provided by a border policeman, the employees of General Anticorruption Directorate - Anticorruption County Service in Galati, under the guidance of the appointed prosecutor in the Prosecutor’s Office within Galati Court, succeeded to catch red-handed a person with double nationality, namely Bulgarian and Moldovan, who promised and offered the amount of 50 dollars to an employee within Border Crossing Point Galati so that the policeman would not issue criminal file.
On 19.05.2009, around 08.00, in B.C.P. Galati-Road, Alexandru P., aged 30, with double nationality, namely Bulgarian and Moldovan, who was driving a truck registered in Republic of Moldova, presented himself in order to enter the country.
At the specific control, the border policeman ascertained the fact that the person involved did not hold driving license; the driver presented the written proof regarding the retaining of the driving license which was not valid anymore (the document was issued by the Romanian authorities for 03.09 - 18.09.2008 period).
During the investigations, the driver offered the border policeman the amount of 50 dollars, so that he would not issue criminal file and let him continue his journey.
Although the border policeman refused the money and reminded him that his action constitutes a crime, Alexandru P. insisted on offering the money, placing on the desk, under the issued documents, the amount of 50 dollars.
Under these conditions, the border policeman informed the officers within the General Anticorruption Directorate - Anticorruption County Service in Galati which, under the coordination of the Prosecutor, carried out the flagrant.
A criminal file was issued to the person involved, for committing the crimes of offering bribe, action foreseen and punished by Article 255 of Penal Code and driving a vehicle on public roads by a person whose driving license was suspended.
