Border policemen within GIBP and Henri
Coandã Airport BCP under the coordination of
D.I.I.C.O.T. prosecutors, with the informational and technical
support of Romanian Intelligence Service (S.R.I.) dismantled a
network of cross-border organized crime made up of Romanian and
Egyptian citizens, specialized in trafficking with Egyptian
migrants.
Four members of the group, one Egyptian citizen and three Romanian
citizens were arrested preventively for 29 days, by the Court of
Bucharest.
The migrants paid to the leader of the group, an Egyptian citizen,
the amount of 6000 Euro per person in order to reach Western
Europe.
In November 2012, border policemen received information regarding the fact that several Egyptian citizens who entered Romania legally, try to leave the national territory based on false documents, intending to reach Western European countries.
Following this information, in the period November 2012 - January 2013, border policemen within G.I.B.P. and Henri Coandã Airport B.C.P. under the coordination of D.I.I.C.O.T. - prosecutors, with the informational and technical support of Romanian Intelligence Service managed to document and prove the criminal activity of a criminal group which dealt with the recruitment, facilitation and transport of Egyptian migrants towards the Schengen area.
Thus it was established that the network was made up of five persons, four Romanian citizens and one Egyptian citizen, Ahmed M, aged 36. The members of the group had well defined roles in the network for recruitment, accomodation, procurement of false documents and transport of migrants to Italy.
As modus operandi, the Egyptian citizens were recruited from Egypt, they were given visas for Cyprus based on which they could legally transit the Romanian territory. After they entered our country, the network members accomodated the Egyptians in different locations from Bucharest and Giurgiu and they procured for them false Italian documents, based on which they tried to get them out of Romania illegally, through a border point on the Western border of Romania.
In exchange of these "services" each migrant paid to the network leader the amount of 6.000 EUR.
On 19.12.2012, following the operational surveillance, border polcie managed to catch red handed in Nadlac B.C.P., Arad county a group of four Egyptian migrants accompanied by one Romanian citizen, member of the criminal group.
Following the documentation of the criminal activity, on 11.01.2013, the group leader, Egyptian citizen Ahmed M., together with the rest of the group, was brought to D.I.I.C.O.T. based on warrants.
The concerned persons are investigated for committing the crime of trafficking with migrants and the constitution of an organized crime group, and at the beginning of this week, based on the presented procedures, the Court of Bucharest based on the presented evidence, admitted the request of D.I.I.C.O.T. prosescutors to arrest preventively the four members of the group for a period of 29 days.
