Measures undertaken by the Border Police in order to prevent the infestation with influenza A (H1N1) virus

In the context of the efforts made by the institutions of the Romanian state in order to prevent and counter the outbreak of influenza A (H1N1) virus on the territory of our country, the Romanian Border Police will act with maximum responsibility in its competence area, together with the medical staff existent inside the border crossing points, by applying the following measures:

thorough check of persons who present themselves at the entry to Romania, arriving from the risk areas in which cases of infection with the influenza A (H1N1) virus (Mexico, New Zeeland, Australia, Switzerland, France, Great Britain, Spain, etc.) were reported; collaboration with the medical staff within the directorates for public health present in the border crossing points, which will check the health state of the persons returning from the affected areas; the border policemen will request concrete information from the passengers arriving from the risk areas regarding the final destination of their journey, by filling in a questionnaire issued by the Ministry of Public Health.
This information will be communicated, urgently, at the level of the working group existent within the border crossing points (made up of representatives of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (I.S.U.), Sanitary-Veterinary Directorate, Public Health Directorate, sanitary-human units etc.) and, subsequently, the data will be sent to the sanitary-human units from the destination localities; the aim is to monitor the health state of all the persons coming from the risk areas. the process of keeping the travelers informed will be continued, in collaboration with the representatives of the Ministry of Health, regarding the symptomatology caused by the influenza A (H1N1) virus, through the distribution of documentary materials placed at disposal by the specialized authorities.

At the same time, a series of measures of sanitary protection for the border policemen who are carrying out the check of the travel documents of the persons arriving from the risk areas were adopted. To this effect, the materials necessary for individual sanitary protection were ensured within all the border crossing points, according to the specialty recommendations. Also, the necessary measures were taken in order to ensure the hygiene and disinfection of Border Police control filters with disinfecting substances.

The Romanian Border Police, an institution acting to the benefit of the citizens, will intervene whenever necessary, for the support of the population, in order to prevent infestation with influenza A (H1N1) virus and to maintain a normal climate in its competence area.
