Italy introduced temporarily border controls

In order to ensure the security of the G8 Summit activities to be held in L’Aquila, Italy, during 10 - 12 July 2009, the Italian authorities introduced temporarily border controls at all internal borders.

European Union Committee informed the General Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police that, according to Schengen law, the Italian authorities will carry out punctual border controls until 15.07.2009, based on the risk analysis.

The introduction of controls at Italian borders does not affect the regime of Romanian travelers intending to travel in Schengen area and on the Italian territory.

The General Inspectorate of Border Police reminds to the Romanian citizens traveling abroad that one of the most important responsibility is the observance of the state law they reside in, as well as the purpose for which they were granted the right to enter, and according to the case, to stay on the territory of that country, under the conditions established by its law or by the international documents concluded with Romania.
