This week, in Budapest, the Republic of Hungary, the Working Party of the Border Agencies Chiefs International Conference, to which the heads of border authorities from 6 states participated, together with representatives of the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the external borders of E.U. Member States (FRONTEX).
Romania was represented in this event by a delegation of Romanian Border Police, leaded by the General Inspector, principal quaestor of police Ioan Buda.
Representatives of Frontex and chiefs of border authorities from Austria, Azerbaijan, United Kingdom of Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, as well as representatives of Hans Seidel foundation were present at the meeting.
During this meeting, the Romanian delegation presented different current themes regarding illegal migration, its effects and impact on the national security; on this occasion the participants appreciated the efforts of the Romanian authorities in fighting this phenomenon.
Furthermore, at this event, relevant themes were proposed for the 20th session of the International Conference of Border Authorities in order to establish its agenda for 2012.
At the same time, Frontex Agency management underlined that it will support the MS in their effort and will mobilize more agencies in order to prevent and counter illegal migration.
The participation in this meeting shows Romanian Border Police involvement in actions organized at international level and it represents an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation relations with the authorities and organizations of the countries involved in fighting cross-border organized crime.
