During Easter week of this year the traffic flow
increased 2% compared to the same period of the previous year from
679,000 to 690,306 passengers.
Cross-border traffic flow, at the entry and at the exit of Romania,
was conducted in optimal conditions, with no increases in waiting
time.
The most transited border was the Romanian-Hungarian one, with a
traffic flow of 273,853 passengers and also the air border crossing
points - 178,433 passengers.
Between 20-26.04.2011, over 690,000 passengers crossed the Romanian borders, entering and exiting our country, 589,576 E.U. citizens (over 85% out of the total of passengers) and over 191,300 means of transportation.
The most transited crossing points were those situated at the Western border - Romanian-Hungarian border with over 273,800 passengers and the air border crossing points with 178,433 passengers.
Comparing the seven days aforementioned we may say that the highest number of passengers was on Friday, 22.04.2011, over 138,000 passengers and the lowest number of passengers was on Sunday - first Easter day - about 53,600 passengers.
During last year Easter time (01 - 07.04.2010) at the Romanian border was recorded a number of passengers over 672,000 and about 189,000 means of transportation.
In order to avoid congestions and to perform a proper check, operational and fluent, Romanian Border Police took supplementary measures as increasing the number of the personnel carrying out activities at the border crossing points and also, depending on each situation, increasing the number of checking arteries, booths, at the entry and at the exit of Romania. Thus, during this period of time, about 3,000 border police officers carried out daily, border surveillance and control activities.
