In order to ensure the security of the N.A.T.O. Summit which takes place during 03 - 04 April 2009, in Strasbourg, France decided to reintroduce checks at the borders with the neighbouring states.
To this effect, according to the Schengen law, during 30 March - 05 April 2009, the French authorities carry out punctual border checks based on risk analysis.
The temporary introduction of checks at the French borders does not affect the travel regime of the Romanian citizens who intend to travel in the Schengen area and implicitly within the French territory.
The General Inspectorate of Border Police recalls the Romanian citizens travelling to France, during the above-mentioned period, that one of the most important responsibilities of the Romanian citizens from abroad is to observe the law of the state in which they are in, as well as the purpose for which they were permitted to enter the country and, depending on the case, to remain on the territory of that state, under the conditions established by the legislation in force in this state or by the international documents concluded with Romania.
