Today, at the headquarters of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Border Police, Inspector General, Police Quaestor, Victor-Ştefan IVAŞCU, received the official visit of Mr. Lars GERDES, Deputy Executive Director for Returns and Operations of the European Agency for Border Police and Guard Coast (FRONTEX).
Furthermore, the Frontex official had a working meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he was welcomed by Mr. Bogdan DESPESCU, General Police Quaestor, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Director General of the General Directorate for European Affairs, Schengen and International Relations, Chief Police Quaestor Mihai Cătălin NECULA.
During the visit to the GIBP headquarters, the Operational Coordination Center was presented - an essential organizational component within the institution, for the integrated management of borders, being exposed the capabilities of the Romanian Border Police, in order to ensure a high level of supervision and control of the external borders of the European Union.
During this period, the Frontex official carries out a series of working visits to the territorial structures of the Border Police - Coast Guard, TIBP Iaşi and TIBP Sighetu Marmaţiei, then on June 14 the official ceremony of opening of the Operational Pilot Project regarding the Frontex Chain of Command of the Standing Corps.
