On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the headquarters of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, the official visit of a delegation of the Spanish National Police took place, led by the general director of this institution, Mr. Francisco Pardo PIQUERAS. During the meeting, the continuation of the dialogue at the institutional level and the development of joint projects in strategic and operational terms were considered, against the background of the new institutional challenges, generated both by the pandemic situation and by the conflict in Ukraine.
The delegation of the Spanish National Police was received by Mr. Victor-Ştefan IVAŞCU, the Inspector General of the Romanian Border Police.
On the occasion of the meeting, aspects regarding the activity of the Romanian Border Police were presented, as well as the operational situation recorded at Romania's borders and possible directions for the implementation of cooperation between the two law enforcement authorities in Romania and the Kingdom of Spain.
The agenda of the activity also aimed at the presentation by the Romanian side of some aspects regarding the integrated management of the border, as well as the approach of some topics such as the elaboration, promotion and monitoring of the implementation of policies in the field of border control.
The meeting took place in the space that houses exhibits of the Romanian Border Police Museum, including battle flags, an exhibition of historical border guard uniforms, an exhibition of current uniforms of European countries, including a Spanish police uniform, models of the river vessels of Border Police, current and World War II weapons, epaulettes, badges, decorations and historical publications.
At the end, the Spanish delegation appreciated the way of ensuring the security of the border, as well as the way of action in order to manage the cross-border criminal phenomenon, expressing its openness to cooperation.
