As a consequence of apprehending sixty Border Guards within Siret Border Police Sector, by the competent authorities at the beginning of February, for serious corruption acts, the management board of General Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police entitled Control Service within General Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police to check urgently the activity of Suceava County Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police in the field of management competences and capacities, analyzing the specific indicators of performance, the way of implementing the prior programs and strategies of Romanian Border Police and also to identify and correct the deficiencies found there.
Out of the verifications came out deficiencies in fulfilling specific duties among the leading personnel within Suceava County Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police and Siret Border Police Sector as follows:
lack of efficiency while performing Border Police control; lack of efficiency while performing operational and intelligence work; insufficient involvement in countering cigarettes smuggling; lack of a ferm attitude in taking the necessary disciplinary measures.Also the lack of involvement or superficial involvement of the leading officers in preventing and countering the internal corruption was found, the local results in this field being null.
As a result of the aforementioned, the measure of preliminary enquiry was taken regarding nine leading officers: the head of Suceava County Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police, the deputy of the inspector of Suceava County Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police, the head of Siret Border Police Sector, the leader of Coutering Illegal Migration Bureau, the leader of Surveillance and Control of Border Crossing Bureau and four more operational officers within Suceava County Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police. At the end of preliminary enquiries, in accordance with the legal provisions, the impose legal measures will be taken concerning the aforementioned officers, taking into consideration the seriousness and danger of their acts.
Three more officers within Suceava County Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police were warned, twenty eight organizational and remedial of the existing dysfunctions and deficiency measures were taken at the level of Suceava County Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police and Siret Border Police Sector.
Also, the management board of General Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police agreed on releasing of leading duties, on their request, the head of Suceava County Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police and his deputy. For ensuring the continuity of management activities at the level of Suceava County Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police two operational officers will be entitle to act on this field.
The evaluation activity will continue at the level of all structures subordinated to General Inspectorate of Romanian Border Police.
