Border guards from the T.I.B.P. Sighetu Marmatiei carried out two actions to prevent and combat cigarette smuggling, as a result of which they confiscated approximately 84,000 packs of cigarettes of Ukrainian origin, worth.
The border policemen from B.P.S. Izvoarele Sucevei launched an action on the line of combating cigarette smuggling in the area of responsibility.
Thus, on October 2 of this year, around 01.00, our workers on a mission on DC 86A noticed, a minibus coming from the hamlet of Coblioara registered in France. The border police made the regulatory signals to stop the car in traffic. But the driver ignored the signals and continued driving. Immediately our colleagues set off in pursuit of the minibus, which, after about a kilometer, they found abandoned in the yard of a building in Bobeica.
Following the on-site investigation, several packages of cigarettes were discovered inside the minibus, which were transported to the headquarters of the BP Sector Izvoarele Sucevei. The inventory resulted in 79,990 packs of cigarettes, from outside the EU and from duty free shops.
The border authorities of the neighboring state were immediately informed of the case for joint investigation of the case.
The entire amount of cigarettes worth 935,883 lei was seized, the car was confiscated for further investigations, and in this case investigations are being carried out in terms of committing crimes of smuggling and fraudulent crossing of the state border, as well as to document the entire criminal activity. The investigations continue under the supervision of the case prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Câmpulung Moldovenesc Court.
The border policemen from BPS Sighetu Marmației also carried out an action to combat cigarette smuggling in the area of responsibility. Thus, on October 1 this year, around 06.00, our colleagues on a state border surveillance mission noticed, several people transporting large parcels from the state border to the interior of the country in the direction of the border town Rona de Sus, Maramureș County. The border police acted to detain the group, making legal summonses by voice. But the people did not obey the summons, and our colleagues took two warning shots with the weapons provided, vertically, respecting the legal provisions in force. The people abandoned the parcels and fled to the territory of the neighboring state, crossing the water of the Tisa River from Romania to Ukraine.
The border authorities of the neighboring state were informed of the case for joint investigation of the case.
Subsequently, several packs of cigarettes were discovered in that area. They were transported to the headquarters of the sector, where, following the inventory, the quantity of 3,999 packs of cigarettes from duty free shops resulted.
The entire quantity of cigarettes, amounting to 46,788 lei, was seized for confiscation, and in this case investigations are being carried out under the aspect of committing the crimes of smuggling and fraudulent crossing of the state border, as well as for documenting the entire criminal activity of smuggling and fraudulent crossing of the state border, as well as for documenting the entire criminal activity.
