Border policemen prepare for the increased
passenger flow in the border crossing points due to the coming
Easter holidays.
At the level of Romanian Border Police a series of measures was
adopted in order to ensure a smooth traffic flow and to reduce the
waiting time.
Daily, approximately 3,000 border policemen will carry out, in this
period, activities of border check and surveillance of the state
border.
In the last year Easter period we registered a traffic flow of
approximately 650,000 persons who crossed the Romanian border.
The coming of Easter brings home many Romanian citizens residing abroad willing to spend these days together with family and relatives, but there are also many foreign citizens who wish to spend their holidays in Romania.
Consequently, in the border crossing points, especially in those at the Romanian-Hungarian border, the traffic of persons and transportation means will register increased values.
In order to avoid heavy traffic and to ensure an operational and smooth check flow, Romanian Border Police will supplement the number of staff working in the border crossing points and, at the same time, depending on the situation, will increase the number of check arteries both on the exit from and entry way into the country.
Measures will also be adopted to manage the operational situation efficiently and to prevent and counter cross-border crimes.
In the next period, approximately 3,000 border policemen will carry out activities of border check and surveillance of the state border, daily.
During last year's Easter holiday (01 - 07.04.2010), at the Romanian borders, over 650,000 persons' crossings were registered, out of which approximately 580,000 were E.U. citizens; the most transited border crossing points were those in the Western and Southern part of the country.
Measures:
The Romanian Border Police leading staff adopted measures in order to ensure an efficient and fluent border check, consisting in:
carrying out an operative and civilized check, and to this effect, measures to supplement the staff responsible with documents check were adopted; increasing the number of check arteries in the border crossing points on the entry and exit way in / out of the country; establishing a staff reserve, both at the headquarters of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police and within the territorial structures, made up of specialized officers ready to act whenever necessary; ensuring an enhanced surveillance at the state border by applying the legal measures aimed to prevent and counter cross-border crimes; maintaining all communication and information means in an operational state, training of subordinated personnel for ensuring rapid intervention in the competence area for solving special situations and for traffic flow improvement at the level of Romanian Border Police structures; enhancement of co-working and collaboration relations with other structures of Ministry of Administration and Interior, with the border authorities of the neighboring states, as well as with the local public administration.Recommendations:
In order to avoid crowding which may occur due to excessive transit demands in the main border crossing points at the border with Bulgaria and Hungary, the Romanian Border Police recommends all participants in traffic to transit all common border crossing points existent at the border, as follows:
on the Romanian-Hungarian Border: within the radius of Timis county: B.C.P. Cenad - Kiszombor; within the radius of Arad county: BCP Nadlac - Nagylak, B.C.P. Turnu - Batonnya, B.C.P. Varsand - Gyula; within the radius of Bihor county: B.C.P. Salonta - Mehkerek, B.C.P. Bors - Artand, B.C.P. Valea lui Mihai - Nyirabrany, B.C.P. Sacuieni - Letavertes; within the radius of Satu Mare county: B.C.P. Urziceni - Vallaj, B.C.P. Petea - Csengersima; on the Romanian-Bulgarian Border: within the radius of Giurgiu county: B.C.P. Giurgiu; within the radius of Constanta county: B.C.P. Vama Veche - Durankulak, B.C.P. Ostrov - Silistra, B.C.P. Negru Voda - Kardam; within the radius of Dolj county: B.C.P. Bechet - Orjahovo, B.C.P. Calafat - Vidin.We recall all participants in cross-border traffic that if they are not satisfied with the way in which the check upon border crossing is carried out, they may call 0219590 where the reported aspects will be taken over by border policemen who will handle them according to the law, on a case-by-case basis.
