Yesterday, the management of Iasi Border Police County Inspectorate informed General Anticorruption Directorate - Iasi Anticorruption County Service a bout the fact that a citizen of Republic of Moldova tried to bribe two Border Police officers within Iasi Railway Border Crossing Point for not suspending their travel documents.
On the morning of 01.08.2011, T. Larisa entered in Romania by train, coming from Ungheni - Republic of Moldova to Iasi - Romania. On the occasion of border check several cigarettes’ packages, over the legal limit, were detected over her, without being declared at the customs office. In regards to this situation, Border Police officers suspended her travel document.
When she was informed about the legal measure taken by Border Police officers, T. Larisa offered to one of the officers 100 U.S. Dollars. The Border Police officer refused the money and informed his superior. Afterwards, T. Larisa offered the same amount of money to the head of Iasi Railway Border Crossing Point in order not to have her document suspended.
Based on the information from Iasi Border Police County Inspectorate, General Anticorruption Directorate - Iasi Anticorruption County Service under the coordination of the prosecutor within Prosecutor’s office within Iasi Court went to the crime scene, where was established the type of crime: bribery.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of bribery were drawn in accordance with the provisions of art. 255 Penal Code and art. 7 point 2, Law no. 78/2000. During the investigation, was decided for the criminals to stay out of prison.
