On 03.08.2023, in the presence of the inspector general of the Romanian Border Police, Mr. Victor-Ştefan IVAŞCU, the police chief, the "graduation ceremony" and closing of the first edition of the CAMPAIGN CAMP for children - BORDER POLICE KIDS ACADEMY took place (Border Police Academy for Children), organized by the Romanian Border Police.
The thematic summer camp took place between July 29 and August 4 and enjoyed the participation of twenty students, girls and boys, aged between 10 and 15, from the whole country, including three children of Ukrainian nationality, selected with the support of the International Organization for Migration.
The inspector general handed the youngest border policemen the graduation diplomas of the BORDER POLICE KIDS ACADEMY and congratulated them for their desire to spend a week of the summer vacation with the border policemen, combining instructive activities with relaxing ones, specific to their age.
The Border Police Kids Academy activities took place at the Drobeta Turnu Severin Border Police Training School, in Mehedinţi County, with the staff involved in the training of border police officers. Also, for the practical activities in the field, we benefited from the support of border policemen from the Territorial Service of the Mehedinţi Border Police, the Border Police Sector Drobeta Turnu Severin and the Border Police Sector Orşova.
The daily program included both specific police training activities and attractive moments for children:
- morning training, sports training, learning to walk in cadence, self-defense tactics
- the elements that make up the border police uniform and the related grades
- practical training topics at the forensic laboratory: recognition of fake documents, methods of taking traces
- presentation of the PFR technique and discussions with the trainers about different police procedures
- field visits to the Iron Gates I Border Crossing Point and participation in how border control is carried out, as well as to the Orşova Border Police Sector where they could observe how the border surveillance is carried out on the Danube.
- there were no shortage of visits to the Drobeta Turnu Severin Museum, the Portile de Fier Hydropower Plant Museum, the Severin Medieval Citadel and the Water Castle in Drobeta Turnu Severin
- the evening always ended with team games that helped the children to develop their competitive spirit, with respect for their colleagues.
The purpose of this project is to bring the Border Police closer to the community, by attracting and educating the young generation, getting to know the attributions of our institution, but also developing a responsible behavior, with respect towards the police institutions and towards the legislation.
The activity would not have been possible without the support of the partners to whom we thank: Decathlon, the International Organization for Migration - IOM, the National Union of Police and Contract Personnel - SNPPC, the International Police Association - IPA - Region 3 IGPF and the VICTORIA Sports Club Drobeta Tr. Severin from STPF Mehedinți, the costs of the camp being covered by the organizers and sponsors.
