The border guards from BCP Siret detected, following the inventory of cigarette master-cases of the two trucks, approximately 1,000,000 cigarette packages that three Polish nationals attempted to introduce illegally into the country, concealed in parcels with plasterboards and mineral wool.
The drivers have been detained for 24 hours and will be brought before Court with the proposal to remand in custody.
On November 21st 2018, as a result of the data assessment at the level of the General Inspectorate of Border Police, the border guards within the Border Crossing Point Siret carried out a thorough control on both trucks loaded with plasterboards and mineral wool, in which there were three Polish nationals. Following the control, a huge quantity of cigarettes was detected.
As a result of the cigarette inventory, it was ascertained that the total quantity of 941,027 cigarette packages of different brands (476,117 packages in the first truck and 464,910 packages in the second truck) was concealed in the plasterboards and mineral wool, amounting to 903.386 lei.
The entire quantity of cigarettes was confiscated by the border guards and the two trucks were made unavailable at the headquarters of the Border Police Sector until the completion of the investigations.
The three Polish nationals, the drivers of the trucks are investigated for committing smuggling; a felony warrant for 24 hours was issued on their names and they will be brought before the judge for freedoms and rights within Rădăuţi Court with the proposal to remand in custody.
