Giurgiu border police, together with police officers from the Giurgiu County Police Inspectorate, discovered in a truck, 15,000 kilograms of pyrotechnic articles, which a Romanian citizen tried to introduce in the country, without having the necessary authorizations. The pyrotechnic articles were hidden in the trailer of the means of transport "by the lid method", behind some pallets with potatoes.
On 05.12.2021, at the Giurgiu Border Crossing Point, the border police officers acted in an integrated system together with police officers from the Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service, on the line of preventing and combating pyrotechnic material crimes.
Thus, around 4.30 pm, at the Giurgiu Border Crossing Point, a 64-year-old Romanian citizen showed up to enter the country, behind the wheel of a truck.
The driver was transporting, according to the documents accompanying the goods, the quantity of 21.5 tons of potatoes, goods loaded from Bulgaria for a company from Bucharest.
Following the physical check on the truck, it was found that, behind six pallets of potatoes, were hidden, by the lid method, hundreds of boxes containing about 15,000 kilograms of pyrotechnic articles (firecrackers, fireworks, etc.).
In this case, investigation is being carried out for the conduct of operations with pyrotechnic articles carried out without right, an act provided by Law 126/1995 on the regime of explosive materials, and the pyrotechnic materials were collected in order to continue the investigation.
