The border policemen from Arad County detected 26 Turkish citizens hidden in the trailer of a freight vehicle which intended to exit illegally from Romania in order to arrive to Austria.
This morning, around 6.40 a.m., at Nadlac Border Crossing Point, Arad County an Austrian citizen Aliriza Y., aged 46, presented himself to exit the county, driving a freight vehicle without load registered in Bulgaria. The driver was accompanied by another Austrian citizen, Recep S., aged 41 and their destination country was Austria.
Acting together with the employees of the General Directorate for Information and Internal Protection on the basis of a risk analysis and the information, the border policemen carried out a detailed control of the transportation means. Thus, in the front of the trailer, behind some pallets without load, they discovered 26 hidden persons who were trying to exit illegally from Romania.
From the investigations, it resulted that the persons involved were Turkish citizens, all men, aged between 19 and 45 and entered legally in Romania based on their national passports.
The Turkish citizens stated that they resorted to this measure because they did not have a visa for the Schengen area and intended to get to Austria in the search of employment. Within the first investigations, the driver of the freight vehicle stated that he did not know how the persons involved got into the vehicle.
The border policemen drew up for the Turkish citizens the preliminary documents to begin the prosecution for committing the illegal border crossing attempt and the driver is being investigated for migrants trafficking.
The investigations are continued by the border policemen in order to detect the persons involved in the organization and the facilitation of the group, as well as to establish the entire crime activity, for the finalization of the case all the necessary legal measures will be taken.
