On 12.04.2022, at the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Border Police headquartes in Bucharest, the Chief Commissioner of Police Ivaşcu Victor Ştefan, General Inspector of the Romanian Border Police, received the delegation of the European Commission, led by Mr. Sinkevicius Virginijus, European Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fishing.
The agenda of the activity focused on the presentation by the Border Police leadership of some aspects regarding the integrated border management, as well as topics related to the impact felt on the environment, as a result of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The European Commission delegation visited the Border Police Coordination Operational Center, where information is collected and processed from border surveillance and control systems installed in order to optimize response time and resource management at a unitary level.
During the visit, Commissioner Sinkevicius Virginijus particularly appreciated the very good level of mobilization of the Romanian authorities in managing border challenges, as well as the way in which our institution acts to combat illegal entry into Romania of waste with environmental impact.
