During 20 - 23 October 2009, a delegation of the Romanian Border Police, led by general inspector, police quaestor, Ioan BUDA, participated at the 10th Annual Meeting of Border Police / Coast Guards Leaders from the Black Sea littoral states, which was carried out in Ukraine - Yalta.
The Border Police / Coast Guard Leaders from the Black Sea littoral states, together with national experts took part at this activity.
Within this reunion, the General Inspectorate of Border Police presented the results registered within Working Groups, established during 2009, when it held the Presidency of Police Cooperation Initiative at the Black Sea (November 2008 - October 2009) and also the cooperation activities to be held in 2010.
At the same time, the Presidency was handed over to the Ukrainian party and new cooperation methods were proposed for more efficient countering of cross-border crime in the Black Sea area.
Also, taking advantage of this event, the general inspector of the Romanian Border Police and the president of Management of Ukrainian State Border Service, who are also main border assignees of Romania and Ukraine, had a bilateral meeting within which the operational situation at the Romanian-Ukrainian common border was analyzed and the directions for the development of cooperation were established for the following period.
Within this framework, a series of important documents were signed for the cooperation between the parties, thus:
protocol between the General Inspectorate of Border Police within the Ministry of Administration and Interior in Romania and Management of Ukrainian State Border Service regarding the rules of navigation on border waters for navigation means belonging to Romanian and Ukrainian border authorities, as well as the cooperation mode during executing the Romanian - Ukrainian state border guard and surveillance; protocol of the 5th meeting of Main Border Assignees of Romania and Ukraine; cooperation plan between the border authorities of the two states for 2010.The meeting proves the willingness of both parties to carry on and enhance the relations of cooperation between the border authorities from Romania and Ukraine and also, to act in order to prevent and counter crime at the Black Sea, in the view of Romania's accession to Schengen area and Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
