Heavy traffic at border crossings

In the last 24 hours, approximately 168,300 people, Romanian and foreign citizens, with over 48,500 means of transport, have carried out the control formalities through the border points at the level of the entire country. There were approximately 120,000 people with 33,000 means of transport on the entrance and 48,300 people with 15,500 means of transport on the exit.

The busiest borders were:

  • Border with Hungary - approximately 92,700 people and 32,400 means of transport;
  • Air border - approximately 43,000 people;
  • Border with Moldova - about 12,000 people and 4,500 means of transport.

Compared to a day in November, when the border checkpoints across the country carried out control formalities, on average, about 90,000 people, with over 32,000 means of transport, there is an increase of over 80% in human trafficking.

In the same daily average from November, there were approximately 50,000 people with 17,000 means of transport on the way in, thus finding that in the last 24 hours there was a 140% increase in traffic in this direction.

Comparing the same periods, on the border with Hungary, the number of people who showed up at the entrance to the country tripled.

We continue to recommend to traffic participants the transit of all points open to international traffic, so as to avoid the occurrence of overloads of only some of them:

  • in Arad County: B.C.P. Nădlac - Nagylak, B.C.P. Nădlac II - Csanadpalota, P.T.F. Turnu- Batonnya, B.C.P. Shedding - Gyula,
    in Bihor County: B.C.P. Salonta - Mehkerek, C.P. Borş - Artand, B.C.P. Borş II - Nagykzreky, B.C.P. Mihai's Valley - Nyirabrany, B.C.P. Sacuieni,
    in Satu Mare County: B.C.P. Urziceni - Vallaj and B.C.P. Petea - Csengersima,
    within Timis county: B.C.P. Cenad.

At the same time, we mention that after carrying out the border control carried out by our workers (verification of travel documents or other documents proving that the conditions for crossing the border are met), on the way to enter the country, traffic is taken over by the representatives of the Public Health Directorate who are in border crossing points for carrying out the epidemiological triage.

In view of this situation, the Romanian Border Police has adapted its surveillance and control missions to reduce waiting times and streamline traffic at border crossing points, and additional measures have been ordered for Border Police personnel supplementation up to the maximum capacity allowed by the infrastructure to each crossing point, respectively the supplementation of the control arteries according to the dynamics of the traffic values.

In addition, border guards use mobile stations to carry out formalities quickly.

Liaison with the authorities of neighboring States shall also be maintained in order to establish common measures, based on bilateral protocols, so that border control can be carried out efficiently.
