On 31.03.2024, the border police carried out the control formalities (both in the direction of entry and exit) for approximately 180,000 people, Romanian and foreign citizens, and over 56,600 means of transport that transited border points throughout the country.
On the way to enter Romania, 88,677 people passed through the border points, of which 8,062 were Ukrainian citizens. Thus, starting from 10.2.2022 (pre-conflict period), until 31.03.2024, midnight, at the national level, 7,680,913 Ukrainian citizens entered Romania.
At the same time, we make it clear that, as of March 31, 2024, border police officers at airports and seaports no longer carry out border control for people traveling to and from countries in the Schengen area, meaning that there is no record of passengers traveling under the conditions mentioned above.
Border guards, together with colleagues from the police, immigration and gendarmerie, carry out timely and unannounced police actions to verify the identity and legal status of people, but also to prevent and combat possible illegal acts. For efficiency, the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs use mobile devices that use the eDAC application, connected to the databases of the Romanian authorities and those of the Schengen Area.
Next, the border control at the entry into Romania through the border crossing points takes place promptly, in accordance with the provisions of the national and community legislation, with the Border Police working at the maximum capacity allowed by the infrastructure of the crossing points.
Information on the situation of border points open to international traffic can be found on the Trafic on-line application which can be accessed at the address http://www.politiadefrontiera.ro/traficonline/
Thus, in the last 24 hours, in the areas of competence - the crossing points and the "green border" - the border police found:
- 67 illegal acts (34 crimes and 33 misdemeanors) committed by both Romanian and foreign citizens;
- the amount of contravention fines applied amounts to over 13,800 lei;
