Information on new conditions for entry into the territory of Bulgaria

The Bulgarian border authorities informed the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Border Police, through the Giurgiu Joint Contact Point, that the Bulgarian authorities have issued new regulations regarding the travel conditions in the Republic of Bulgaria, applicable starting with September 1, 2021, at 00.00.

Thus, Romania enters the green zone, according to the Bulgarian authorities, and persons arriving from the green zone are allowed to enter the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria presenting a valid EU digital COVID certificate for vaccination, disease or test or a document containing the same data as the EU COVID Digital Certificate.

Among the special categories of persons exempted from the requirement to present COVID documents upon entry into the Republic of Bulgaria are persons transiting the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, provided their immediate departure from the territory of that State is guaranteed and children up to 12 years of age.

Romanian citizens are allowed to enter the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria only through border crossing points where Bulgarian medical staff are located. Thus, from Romania you can enter the territory of the neighboring state, by:

  • B.C.P. Giurgiu - Ruse, Giurgiu county.
  • B.C.P. Calafat - Vidin, Dolj County.
  • B.CP. Bechet - Oriahovo, Dolj County.
  • B.C.P Turnu Măgurele - P.T.F. Somovit-Nikopol, Teleorman County.
  • B.C.P. Vama Veche - Durankulak, Constanţa County.

Through B.C.P. Ostrov-Silistra, Călăraşi County, B.C.P. Zimnicea-Svishtov and B.C.P. Negru Vodă-Kardam, Constanţa County, the entry of persons transiting the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria is allowed, in cases where the immediate leaving of the territory of the country can be guaranteed.
