At the level of the European Union, the legislative framework regarding the new architecture of information systems for security and border, with an impact on the activity of the Romanian Border Police, is being implemented.
The Schengen Information System (SIS) is a cooperation tool for the border, immigration, police, customs and judicial authorities of the EU and the countries associated with the Schengen area, with the object of entering and consulting alerts on persons and objects in a database common data, as well as exchange of security and border management information through them.
Information on the processing of personal data in the SIS can be found by accessing the link https://www.mai.gov.ro/pliante-si-afise-privind-sis-destinate-publicului
The entry-exit system (EES) is an IT system for the electronic registration of entry and exit data, as well as entry refusal data, regarding third-country nationals moving to the European Union for short-term stays, in order to secure, protect and the efficiency of their management, as well as to increase the security of citizens.
Information on the processing of personal data in EES can be found by accessing the link https://www.mai.gov.ro/pliante-si-afise-privind-ees-destinate-publicului.
Additional data on the EES can be obtained from the website of the European Commission - https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees_en.
The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is a travel authorization system for visa-exempt third-country nationals that allows to assess whether their presence on the territory of EU member states constitutes a risk in security, a risk of illegal immigration or a high epidemic risk.
Travelers must apply for authorization before traveling to the EU and have it when they present themselves at border control. The system will make available, in online format, an application form that the applicant will fill in with information about his identity, travel document, residence, as well as with answers to a series of general questions. To complete the application, applicants are required to pay a fee of 7 euros.
It is estimated that, in most cases, the authorization will be issued within a few minutes following an automatic processing process by the central ETIAS system. In the situation where the automatic application processing process signals a positive response as a result of querying the relevant EU databases, Europol data and Interpol databases, the applications are processed manually at the level of an EU member state designated as responsible.
Additional information regarding ETIAS can be obtained from the European Commission website - https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en.
