The Inspector General of the Romanian Border Police, Chief Police Commissioner Ivașcu Victor Ștefan, accompanied by a delegation of GIBP representatives, attended a working meeting with his counterpart from the Republic of Moldova on May 18-20, 2022. , Chief Commissioner of Police Rosian Vasiloi. The meeting was organized in Chisinau by the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova and aimed at continuing and consolidating cooperation with the Romanian Border Police.
The main objectives of this meeting were to analyze the operational situation at the common border, to identify new interaction mechanisms to combat cross-border crime, with a view to a rapid and complete exchange of information, and to organize the activities of joint investigation teams for smuggling cases and cross-border crime.
During the talks, the head of the GIBP stressed that such activities are an effective tool for cooperation in managing cases involving cross-border crime at the common border: "Since February 24, both countries are affected equally, both Romania and the Republic of Moldova. An experience that proved that it can be done, that our colleagues know how to do their job professionally, have showed not only a collegial relationship, but even a friendly one. Today, it is important for our institutions to work together better, more than that, to have a permanent open dialogue. In this way, they will be able to prevent any threat to the security of both countries. "
Also, during the working meeting, the two officials discussed aspects related to the field of personnel policies, the exchange of experience in the field of professional training of employees but also the improvement of the directions of bilateral cooperation.
At the same time, visits were organized within the structures of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova, respectively the Palanca Border Crossing Point, the Center of Excellence in Border Security from Ungheni and the Costeşti Border Police Sector.
During the meeting, the two delegations signed the Plan for the Development of Cooperation of the Border Institutions of Romania and the Republic of Moldova for 2022.
The meeting supports and strengthens the cooperation relations between the Romanian Border Police and the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova and is part of the RBP program to intensify international inter-institutional cooperation in the border field, in order to ensure border security.
